The Town of Erwin provides Aurene Residents a brush collection area for resident use only.
Brush as well as plant and tree clippings ONLY are to be disposed of in the designated area. The Town periodically removes what is accumulated. Rocks, mulch, weed block, grass clippings, plastic planters, and other such waste is not permitted. Additionally, contractors performing work in the neighborhood do not have access to this area, which is reserved for resident use only. This is a unique privilege the Town affords Aurene residents. To preserve its existence, residents are encouraged to follow proper use guidelines. 

Each spring the Town sweeps the streets of Aurene to remove cinders spread by the snow removal crew during the winter. There is no notification or schedule to share. However, cleanup begins when the busy spring workload permits. It starts as soon as it appears there will be no more wintry conditions.  This is a good time to sweep and rake the Town’s cinders from the edge of your property into the road just over your curb so it can be collected by the street sweeper operated by the Town highway department.

Christmas tree collection by the Town of Erwin typically begins the week after Christmas and extends through the second week of January. The specific period is posted on the Town’s website each year. Trees should be placed parallel to but not in the roadway, and away from poles, fences, bushes, mailboxes, and other obstructions that would impede the use of loading equipment. Trees should not be bagged and need to be clean of tinsel, ornaments, and other decorative material.

Each fall the Town of Erwin announces the Fall Leaf Pickup Program start date through local media outlets and on their website. The schedule is based on weather conditions and leaf drop timing.  Residents wishing to take advantage of the service should rake leaves to the roadside/curb, while being sure to keep them clear of drainage systems, swales, gutters, and catch basins to avoid clogging them. Leaves should not be bagged. Branches, grass clippings, and other debris are prohibited.
